As a young boy I regularly watched Yatra sitting on the ground in a remote Indian village under the mesmerizing dreamy lights from Petromax lanterns. The rustic nature of loud prompters and male actors’ struggle to emulate female voices is still vivid in my memory. The experience later instill a strong interest in performing arts in my mind. The art of presentation might have come a long way since then, but thousands of miles away from our ancestral home we have formed Stage Ensemble Theater Unit (SETU) with a mission to bridge the ‘cultural’ gap between Indian and American society, and what better medium to succeed in this mission than a ‘live’ theatrical performance..
